Alabaster Bay

Dear mother I am writing here from Alabaster Bay

And I wish that you were here with me today

The sea is calm, the breeze is cool, the sun is warm and high

And the clouds are drifting slowly through the sky

And the little boy climbed in the mulberry tree

And he clung to the branches till daylight was gone

And he ran through the years in a flurry of glee

With his mind in a trance and his heart in a song

The kids are watching shapes of clouds, imaginations free

And they're seeing things you must be young to see

There are kings and wizards, dragons flying, fun and fancy free

And everything they see they tell to me

And the little boy ran with his arms open wide

And he laid down and dreamt of castle of glass

And he told her the tale and his mother sighed

For she knew that those days were not made to last

It seems like only yesterday that little boy was me

Telling you my dreams and all the things I'd see

And we ran and laughed and played imaginations running wild

Dreaming all the dreams you dream when you're a child

And the little boy ran through the years so fast

And he laid down and dreamt of the days that were gone

And he told her the tale and his mother laughed

For she knew that those days were meant to live on

Dear mother I am writing here from Alabaster Bay

And I wish that you were here with me today

The sea is calm, the breeze is cool, the sun is warm and high

And the clouds are drifting slowly through the sky

Cracks in the Mirror

Colors running, pictures fade

The world wears us away

The Darkness coming endless night

No dawn to break the day

And the cracks in the mirror hide our souls

From the brilliant light of day

If you saw what was left of your reflection now

You’d try to run away

We stop and say “how are you dear?”

And everyone says “fine”

Too busy beating back the tears

To read between the lines

And the cracks in the mirror hide our souls

From the brilliant light of day

If you saw what was left of your reflection now

You’d try to run away

While smiling through this sad charade

We hide away our hearts

We wander through this masquerade

And wonder who we are

And the cracks in the mirror hide our souls

From the brilliant light of day

If you saw what was left of your reflection now

You’d try to run away

Darkness

I love you more than life itself

I wanna be with you and nobody else

I swear to God above

You are the one I love

There is a darkness in me

And in the darkness is where you found me

The night is black and it’s getting hard to see

I don’t know why you would fall in love with me

I fell for you like a was struck by a bolt of lightning

I lost control and I saw there was no use in fighting

Your love has captured me

Don’t wanna be set free

There is a darkness in me

And in the darkness is where you found me

The night is black and it’s getting hard to see

I don’t know why you would fall in love with me

I am enchanted by your charm

But I cannot bear to do you any harm

I cannot live with all these lies

I am ashamed before your eyes

There is a darkness in me

And in the darkness is where you found me

The night is black and it’s getting hard to see

I don’t know why you would fall in love with me

All I can do is drag you down

I’ve got to get away from this town

There is darkness down below

And I’ve got to let you go

The Imposter

I don't know what to do
No really I don't have a clue
Do you know my name?
Listen to me, nothing feels the same
I don't have a plan
No listen, I am just one man
You don't know my name

And I am not what I have claimed to be

I am an imposter

I am not your hero, you’re confused

I’m just an imposter

Now I’ve got nothing left to lose

Can you trust an imposter, you’ve got to choose

I don't know what to do
No really I don't have a clue
Do you know my name?
Listen to me, nothing feels the same
I don’t know a thing

No listen, I am not your king

Don’t believe your eyes

It’s all been a pack of lies

I am an imposter

I am not your hero, you’re confused

I’m just an imposter

Now I’ve got nothing left to lose

Can you trust an imposter, you’ve got to choose

I don't know what to do
No really I don't have a clue
Do you know my name?
Listen to me, nothing feels the same
What is that you say?

You say you’ll follow anyway?

You’ve known all along

In your eyes I’ve done no wrong

I am an imposter

I am not your hero, you’re confused

I’m just an imposter

Now I’ve got nothing left to lose

Can you trust an imposter, you’ve got to choose

Bleeding Heart

You’ll be in my bleeding heart

You’ll be in my bleeding heart

Though the sun it may not shine and the stars may not align

You’ll be in my bleeding heart

You’ll be in my bleeding heart

You’ll be in my bleeding heart

Eleven years it’s been, it seems so long ago

Now we are worlds apart, the rain has turned to snow

You held me underneath, you wouldn’t let me breath

The hell you put in you’ll never know

We’ve been broken from the start

We’ve been broken from the start

Though I should’ve seen the signs, we were bound to break in time

We’ve been broken from the start

We’ve been broken from the start

We’ve been broken from the start

You’ll be in my bleeding heart

How could you say to me that it was just a dream,

After you promised me that love would reign supreme?

A billion miles away, I’ll never hear you say

That things were never really as they seemed

We will always be apart

We will always be apart

Though you used to be my world, now you’re just another girl

We will always be apart

We will always be apart

We will always be apart

You’ll be in my bleeding heart

It was the best of times, the worst we’ve ever seen

I will remember how it felt before we ripped at the seams

You ripped my heart apart, you shattered my whole being

I’ll never understand just what you mean

When you say--

You’ll be in my bleeding heart

You’ll be in my bleeding heart

Though the sun it may not shine, and the stars may not align

You’ll be in my bleeding heart

You’ll be in my bleeding heart

You’ll be in my bleeding heart

You’ll be in my bleeding heart

You’ll be in my bleeding heart

You’ll be in my bleeding heart

Though I loved you for a time, God knows once I called you mine

You’ll be in my bleeding heart

You’ll be in my bleeding heart

Though I loved you for a time, God knows once I called you mine

Safer From Harm

And you see it's only me

Lay down your arms I mean no harm

The war is over and you owe her

A one-time apology

Give her what she does not deserve

Make it brief, post    pone your grief

Don't cry because it's over they say

Smile because it happened

But there is no silver lining

When the sky's completely

Covered in thunderclouds

You're trembling, remembering

When your path felt safer from harm

And your arms weren't covered in scars

When the sun felt warm on your face

And your love you weren't afraid to embrace

So you see I know where you have been

And  where you're going

I can guide you through your darkest hour

Help you to make it

Till morning, giving you warning

It's alright, it's sunlight

Though it seems the world will show mercy

And you think no one could love you

Let me tell you there are

Far better things

Ahead of us than any we leave behind

You're moving fast, this too shall pass

When your path felt safer from harm

And your arms weren't covered in scars

When the sun felt warm on your face

And your love you weren't afraid to embrace

Sell My Spot

What do you wish for?

I'll get it all for you

It's not a newer statement

But I still swear it's true

My hands are yours to keep then

And all my waking hours

But most of all I'd give you,

Over worldly, godly power

I would sell my spot in heaven

Just to take my spot at your side

And it wouldn't matter the weather

If you're there it'd be worth all the while

So don't let me go

Don't hold back

Just hold me close

And I wouldn't have to ask

So let's tell everybody

Let's tell all the world

I'll make it clearly noted

That I'd give you anything girl

Ask me all you want

And it will be so

Bushels full of trust

Or help or heart or home

I would sell my spot in heaven

Just to take my spot at your side

And it wouldn't matter the weather

If you're there it'd be worth all the while

So don't let me go

Don't hold back

Just hold me close

And I wouldn't have to ask

Hell will be okay my dear as long as I'm around you

Dancing laughing with you near, burning happily after

I would sell my spot in heaven

Just to take my spot at your side

And it wouldn't matter the weather

If you're there it'd be worth all the while

So don't let me go

Don't hold back

Just hold me close

And I wouldn't have to ask

Doldrums

In the morning, in the evening

Rain is falling around our heads as we walk along

singing forgotten songs

Days are dreary, getting weary

Skies are dripping the tears of days that have gone away

Words that we didn't say

And it feels like I'm trapped in the doldrums

All the sails are empty and I'm lost at sea

There's no ship left on the water that can rescue me

So I guess I'll keep drifting away

Can you hear the cry of ages?

Can you hear my voice echoing off of the canyon walls?

Heard through the empty halls

If you know your way around here

In the labyrinth, please show me the nearest exit

Right at the heart of it

And it feels like I'm trapped in the doldrums

All the sails are empty and I'm lost at sea

There's no ship left on the water that can rescue me

So I guess I'll keep drifting away

In the morning, in the evening

Rain is falling around our heads as we walk along

singing forgotten songs

Days are dreary, getting weary

Skies are dripping the tears of days that have gone away

Words that we didn't say

And it feels like I'm trapped in the doldrums

All the sails are empty and I'm lost at sea

There's no ship left on the water that can rescue me

So I guess I'll keep drifting away

Wings on my Guitar

All my life i’ve been living with this heartache

Got nothing left but this guitar and then my heart breaks

Hollow bodied, hollow souls are all I see

But I will walk these lonely streets or I will crawl ‘em on my knees

I will take this solemn city, I will burn it to the ground,

Still I know that I am never gonna catch you looking down on me

But the wings on my guitar will carry me farther

Than you ever wanted to

And you know I wouldn’t bother

Just drop that sentimental point of view

I’m stuck with sinners sanctify me bloody mark mates

We’ve driven down here, smash the windows, faulty car brakes

They take the pen from white eyes, needles scratching on the table

My brothers help me write my mind with hellfire if i’m able

I can rise from this position, I can fly if you will let me

Will I find your answer waiting, lurking,

I can make a bet see

How will I know if you world is wide enough,

Because i’m sure that my world, it ain’t big enough,

To fit my sword, my shield and all six strings I’d live and die by

Don’t want no petty talk and no remains of this old drive by

I’ll fly on my guitar that carries me farther

Than you ever wanted to

And you know I wouldn’t bother

Just drop that sentimental point of view

Lets bring it ‘round again, we’ll make a jagged circle,

You held me down, I’m drowning, choking, turning purple

With no remorse you jumped, fell swinging from my heartstrings

They start to break it makes me shake, the midnight bell rings

I will take this broken body, I will burn it to the ground,

You’ll never know the light I’ve been through, or the silence that I’ve found now

Cuz the wings on my guitar will carry me father

Than you ever wanted to

And you know I wouldn’t bother

Just drop that sentimental point of view

My guitar burns like a martyr and I hold the flame, I hold it out for you

You should know by now I wouldn’t bother

I’ve dropped that sentimental point of view

I’ve dropped that sentimental point of view

I’ve dropped that sentimental point of view

To stay with my guitar

Cuz the wings on my guitar will carry me farther

Stardust

How many times have you told me that I'm a fool to reach for the stars?

You say that we should be content where we are

Your complacency is not for me I've got to live my life in the sun

I gotta keep on running till I reach the horizon

Cause I got stardust in my eyes

You can't bring me down

I see stardust in the skies

Can you see it falling down on me?

I see the world from above the clouds, breathe in deep; I feel the atmosphere

And for once in my life everything seems clear

I've got sun and moon and galaxies the universe is knocking at my door

I thrown the door open wide, can't stay inside anymore

Cause I got stardust in my eyes

You can't bring me down

I see stardust in the skies

Can you see it falling down on me?

You seem to think it's impossible, you can't change the world you're just one man

How can you expect to meet the heart's demand?

This winding road is full of twists and turns, many challenges we must face

We have to learn to sprint through every race!

Cause I got stardust in my eyes

You can't bring me down

I see stardust in the skies

Can you see it falling down on me?

From the reaches of the deepest space to the center of the black hole

Lays the great adventure waiting to unfold

There are men monsters marvels grand, all of time and space to explore

Haven't you ever wondered what it's got in store?

Cause I got stardust in my eyes

You can't bring me down

I see stardust in the skies

Can you see it falling down on me?

Nothing Gold Can Stay

Nothing gold can stay around here

Things are turning to brown around here

So dawn goes down to day

Nothing gold can stay

Nothing gold can stay

How can I walk a mile with my feet entangled?

Walk a mile sinking deeper in the sand (God help me)

How would I know the Lord from the fallen angel?

Wouldn't know a diamond if I held it in my hand

Everything’s crumbling

Stars are tumbling

You see me stumbling

Again

Nothing gold can stay around here

Things are turning to brown around here

So dawn goes down to day

Nothing gold can stay

Nothing gold can stay

Would you like to save the world, but what’s the use of trying?

All you’re doing is postponing its death a little longer

Entropy marches on and nothing lasts forever

All we can do is live from breath to breath

Everything’s crumbling

Stars are tumbling

The ground is rumbling

Below

Nothing gold can stay around here

Things are turning to brown around here

So dawn goes down to day

Nothing gold can stay

Nothing gold can stay

Maybe our days are numbered so that they’ll be cherished

Today’s the first day of the rest of your whole life (sing Alleluia)

Though we try, we can’t preserve what was made to perish

So seize the moment, it’ll never come again

Everything’s crumbling

Stars are tumbling

It’s all so humbling to me

Nothing gold can stay around here

Things are turning to brown around here

So dawn goes down to day

Nothing gold can stay

Nothing gold can stay
